StickySticky:Forum Suggestions
Now I know its not beyond myself to be a complete noob and miss something, but assuming for once I haven't been, would it be possible to set up a "Preview" button before we post? I like to read through my post as I would see it before posting just to make sure I haven't made any stupid mistakes.

Also any smileys lurking around somewhere? emoticon

Oh and I know we can quote other posts, but can we type in bold/different font colours/sizes etc?

I'm gonna keep you busy for a while yet Colin! >:-D

Thats a good idea, I will try and include it in the next release.

Not yet, but shouldnt be too much to add them, its always been my intention to! I'll get them in at some point.

Quote:Oh and I know we can quote other posts, but can we type in bold/different font colours/sizes etc?
Yep, check out the BBCode, by clicking the "BBCode Available" links when replying and it should show you all your options. I need to tidy it up still but its there at least.

Quote:I'm gonna keep you busy for a while yet Colin! >:-D
I keep myself busy enough emoticon

Anywho, I do have developments still to come, pm outbox i'll try and do at some point, but just so you guys are aware, my priority fixes are:
Fixing how things are deleted (top priority), currently its about as secure as a safe made out of pastry in fat camp.

Next is adding more forum options, and allowing forums to be enabled and disabled, and forums to be created when squads are created. (second priority)

There was something else I really need to do, but cant remember what off the top of my head. Anyways, ive got a week of doing not a lot over xmas, then a week of solid uni work, then i'll get cracking on other bits. I can roll out developments pretty quick, but lack time to do them.

All the stuff mentioned above and lots more to come, but uni work needs to take priority for a couple of weeks. I shall do what I can!

It would be cool if there was a link to all un-read posts, or new posts since you last logged on. No idea how easy/hard that would be to do though lol

It's more of an anti-bloat measure, at least for the quick replies anyway. As it can get a bit ridiculous with signatures all over the place, especially if theres just a couple of the same people talking

Colin what might be good is the ability to add forums ourselves to the lnc forums? like create seperate ones, hope that makes sense.

Also any way you can make the site highlight in very obvious bold what posts are new since u last visited? cause atm i struggle to see them.

As for letting clans create their own forums there's quite a bit of work involved in it, but I hope to do it eventually.

As for highlighting posts new since you last logged in I will investigate it

New addition:
When uploading screenshots you get the option of re-sizing the image, which basically takes a large image and resizes it gracefully down to a smaller size, maintaining image quality. for an example of what I mean, see the difference between Screenshot 1 (normal upload) and Screenshot 3 (with re-sizing) on the |o.p.s| result

OK ladies.
You know have a site statistics panel on the non-forum pages.
Also topics and forums which have been updated since the last time you logged in will be highlighted with a striped background so you can see what is new since you last visited. You will need to log out and log back in to see this properly. The first time you do login since this update you will see that everything has a striped background, this is normal.

Forum topic pages implemented, so you can go back and forth through the different pages.
I've also changed the National Flags as I think these are a lot nicer.

I shall be starting work on a new theme today so i'll guinea pig it on here later in the week i think.

hey Colin,

As you probably know by now roach is somewhat of a statwh0re and so as to fill his needs for more stats I was wondering if match reports could be entered slightly differently?

Rather than entering everyone's names manually would it be possible to have a drop down menu to select which players were playing? With maybe an 'other' section if someone wasn't on the website and needed to be entered for the results. And similarly with man of the match. Then it might be quite nice to be able to enter players scores from the match, so we could build up a general match performance set of statistics to aid in team selection etc. It would be good to get map by map stats as well as general stats. Again with the MOTM entry a drop-down menu would be good. And also with the 'match rules'.

I realise this would probably be a pain in the arse, but if you're bored I think it would make the match reports look a lot more professional if everyone looked similar.

Also in the report section it would be good to have some sub-sections i.e.

Terrorist Report, Counter-terrorist Report, General Report, Man of the Match.

Also would it be possible to make some parts of the report private to LnC members, so that I could be more specific with match details, without giving too much away to other clans looking at our site.

Also another drop down tab just to indicate whether there is a match demo or not would be good.

Don't get me wrong I think the reports are fine as they are, its just some suggestions and something to think about!

And similarly with man of the match. You've just given me a fantastic idea for doing this, it doesn't involve a drop down box as such, but would be applicable for news posts and other parts of the site.

Quote:Then it might be quite nice to be able to enter players scores from the match, so we could build up a general match performance set of statistics to aid in team selection etc. It would be good to get map by map stats as well as general stats. Again with the MOTM entry a drop-down menu would be good. And also with the 'match rules'.Ok, the problem I see with this is nothing to do with implementation, but as someone who's had a lot of experience in running clans this would be a waste of time from a team selection viewpoint. Scores shouldn't really come into it, and you should know your players well enough to know what they're good at and not. That said it may be a cool feature to have for just shits and giggles.

Quote:Also in the report section it would be good to have some sub-sections i.e.

Terrorist Report, Counter-terrorist Report, General Report, Man of the Match.
The reason this is not done is because not every game has a CT half and a T half, or even halves at all, so it would become an absolute mess to try and do.

Quote:Also would it be possible to make some parts of the report private to LnC members, so that I could be more specific with match details, without giving too much away to other clans looking at our site. This is quite a good idea, I will look into it! For now perhaps include a link to a forum post in the squads private section for private match discussions.

Quote:Also another drop down tab just to indicate whether there is a match demo or not would be good.Another field for specifying a demo is indeed a possibility.

You guys should probably know that on the 21st of May I finish my exams, and as soon as I do i'll be pretty much re-writing riYp from scratch. What it is now is all well and good but I've had some fairly epic ideas which simply won't work with the implementation as it is now. This will probably take me some time to do, which will in turn mean that updates aren't exactly flying in over the coming couple of months.

Cool matey....would the date of 21st of May be the day before we finally see you playing css (hungover of course :P)?

Glad my random chat has inspired something for you! emoticon

On the stats front, it was more me being a statwhore using the excuse of "team selection"! lol emoticon

Anyways good luck with those exams, target and I finish a week later (29th)! Massive amounts of cramming going on now! :P

Hey Colin,

Ok is there a way that match fixture notifcations/reminders could be sent out in an e-mail instead of a pm? I mean pms are great for those who check the site regularly, but some lazy bums who don't check the site regularly would probably benefit from an e-mail spam! emoticon

Also on the front page I noticed it was getting very long with news thread, I was wondering if maybe they could be split up into separate pages? Or perhaps limit the number of threads, so we delete old useless ones before we can post up new news. The same goes for the forum really, I think it would make it look neater.

Regards,

Uber feedback spammer! emoticon

It appears to only happen when you've previously looked at a screenshot. If you go onto a report and go straight to comments, it works fine. If you look at a screenshot first, close the screenshot, then go onto comments, the . , scroll thing appears to still be active.

Another thing, when adding forum messages it gets stuck in an infinite loop, on a blank white page.
Ok, it happens when doing a quick reply. http://lnc.riyp.co.uk/phpscript/forumSubmit.php#quickreply is the page, and it refreshes infinitely (I assume). I just hit back usually. Firefox 2.0.0.4

Ok pretty much how you have on the screenshots where you can just press next to look at the next screenshot. Rather than going to the matches page selecting one fixture, reading it, and then having to go back to the match page to look at the next fixture.

It only occured to me as lots of people managed to set their availability for a match on a tuesday and nothing at all on the wednesday when the fixtures were put up at a very similar time.

I do see your point, but thats the reason that squad members get sent a PM about every added fixture. And they have to read the PM for it to go away, so all squad members should see it.
